Flyers welcome Grammar parents at Come and Try Day

26/11/2017 by Kim

Canberra Grammar and Canberra Girls’ Grammar Schools parents were welcomed at a Flyers morning of paddling basics and racing fun on Saturday.

Three boats of Flyers and first time paddlers battled it out in some very close turn races around Lotus Bay.

‘The Grammar parents are an important part of the Dragon Flyers story and the Come and Try Day is a great way to boost our membership and maintain our links with the parents and teachers at the schools.

‘We had a great turn out, there were plenty of smiles and the weather was perfect,' Flyers President Bronwen North said.

‘Well done to the Flyers Recruitment Team, especially Coordinator, Bea Brickhill,’ Bronwen said.

It’s game on at the 13th IDBF World Nations Championships

Auroras paddlers Sue Pidgeon, Graeme Ainsworth and Robyn Woollcott gathered at Lotus Bay with the Flyers this week.

The Senior C team mates got together for the last time in the lead up to the
13th IDBF World Nations Championships on Dianchi Lake, Kunming, China next week.

Sue and Robyn are China bound after a final training camp in Melbourne, but unfortunately after a recent health scare, and on doctor’s orders, Graeme shifted his focus from gold to good health and withdrew from the Senior C crew late in the campaign.

The Flyers wish Graeme a speedy recovery and look forward to his return to the sport he loves.

The fast and furious racing will have the Flyers cheering the Auroras, especially team mates Sue and Robyn as they take on the world’s best in China from 18 – 22 October.

The Championships can be viewed via streaming on Dragon Boat LIVE.
